GSFC University Vadodara enter in to MoU with Garuda Aerospace Private Limited for Drone technology
Jointly work on research and development, training, service and maintenance, and advisory support in drone technology
In future diploma and degree courses in Drone technology will be started as part of this collaboration
( Vadodara Dt.17 05 2024 ) GSFC University signed an MoU on Friday, with M/s. Garuda Aerospace Private Limited, a Chennai-based startup specializing in developing low-cost drone solutions, along with related software and analytical tools. The primary goal of this collaboration is to jointly work on research and development, training, service and maintenance, and advisory support in drone technology. In future, the collaboration with Garuda Aerospace may be extended to include diploma and degree courses in Drone Technology.
Two courses of Drone Technician and Certified Pilot Training will be started as part of this MoU. Later it can be developed as diploma and degree courses based on their success. “Drone technology is now a need of the hour as not only agriculture, drones are used in every sectors. In next two years there will be great demand of pilots, co pilots and technicians and this MoU will focus on to cater the needs as per demands. We are expecting 50 plus learners in each course which will be starting somewhere around mid June or early July. We want to create an ecosystem of Drone technology through this and the participants will get DGCA approved certificate after completion of the course. The primary objective of this partnership is to provide research and development, training, service, and guidance in drone technology. In future, diploma and degree courses in drone technology will be launched jointly with Garuda Aerospace. GSFC University will provide the necessary infrastructure, training, and mentoring services through its faculty members,” said B.B Bhayani, CEO-GUIITAR, GSFC University.
Dr. Vijaykumar Jones, Chief Operating Officer of Garuda Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. said, we want to create job opportunities and empower the youths. We start with two courses – one is Drone Technician which is of seven days duration and second is Certified Pilot Training which is of10 days time. Based on their success we will increase the number of courses and also extend them to diploma and degree courses. Garuda Aerospace has created drones for over 40 diverse applications, including sanitization, agricultural spraying, mapping, delivery, and surveillance. We are one of India’s leading enterprises and the only drone company to hold dual certification for manufacturing both small and medium-sized drones.
The MoU is signed by B.B Bhayani, CEO-GUIITAR, GSFC University and Dr. Vijaykumar Jones, Chief Operating Officer of Garuda Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. in presence of P.K Taneja, IAS (Retd.), President-GSFC University. Prof. G.R Sinha, Provost-GSFC University, R.B Panchal, Director (Admin)-GSFC University and other officials along with students.
This is to be mentioned here that In 2021, GSFC University students started a Drone Development Project to advance agriculture and related fields through drone technology. GSFC University established an Advanced Drone Lab to foster exploration and innovation in drone technology, supporting students, startups, and researchers. Current student projects running in the university include using drones with helium balloons, drones as pseudo-satellites, and drone applications in fire safety, Marine Drone and other areas.
In this MoU, GSFC University will contribute the necessary infrastructure, training, and advisory services through its faculty members.
